THREE HIGH HIMALAYAN PASSES, ONE LOFTY CAUSE:
HELP THE SUBSTATION!

MAY 2025

A personal challenge to complete the epic Three Passes Trek in Nepal’s Everest region by Jean-Louis Morisot to push his own limits at 5,500+ metres while raising funds for The Substation.

Renjo La: A thrilling climb to 5,360m.
Cho La (5,420m) : An exciting traverse to the Gokyo Valley.
Kongma La: The ultimate test at 5,535m.

You are invited to donate for every pass crossed, up to a maximum of three passes! For example, SGD 100 per pass pledge means SGD 300 once Jean-Louis successfully completes all three passes. No amount is too small.

“Your generosity will directly benefit The Substation, an incredible arts organisation supporting young to mid-career artists in Singapore and Southeast Asia. My nine years on the Board have convinced me of the necessity of its mission, especially in these most turbulent times.”

This gruelling journey covers some of the world’s most challenging terrains. Your support gives extra motivation for Jean-Louis to push through the tougher moments – stay tuned to our socials as he posts summit proof from each pass.

Jean-Louis trip is entirely self-funded, with responsible tourism practices including employment of local guide/porter and minimal environmental impact.

COMMUNITY FUNDRAISING X ALMOST ASTHMA

SEP 2024 - JAN 2025 (campaign ended)

A virtual mural-building activity with tattoo artist and illustrator, Almost Asthma, to re-create her classic mural along our old alley onto a new virtual wall! This crowdfunding campaign is part of a series to re-create The Substation’s murals online, in collaboration with our past mural artists, and raise a total of $30,000.

  • Donate $50: Receive Almost Asthma's digital souvenir of the Giraffe

  • Donate $100 and up: Unlock animals on our virtual mural, with higher tiers unveiling larger creatures; like a surprise digital blindbox revealing the animal you unlocked, personalised with your name – your very own spirit animal to keep and share!

  • Stay tuned for the virtual mural!

The Mural's Story

Commissioned by The Substation in 2020, the art features the famous line: Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable - Cesar A Cruz, Mexican poet, educator, activist. True to our mission, Almost Asthma was given the creative space to use her own visual language. Her mural was an integral part of The Sub, adorning our walls and serving as an artistic statement. It sparked curiosity and inspired meaningful projects as Almost Asthma evolved in illustration & tattoo art, reflecting our commitment to nurturing creativity.

Why This Matters

With the redevelopment of 45 Armenian, our physical murals will soon disappear. This campaign allows us to reimagine The Sub's memorable facades while continuing our mission beyond physical walls. Stay tuned for more ways to recreate other beloved murals from our history!
