No singing experience required – just an openness to learn about the voice you were born with. A double degree holder in music education (University of Santo Tomas, Philippines) and musical theatre (LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore), Gimbey has over 20 years in performance and teaching, including vocal lessons and musical theatre workshops to performing enthusiasts and professionals of all ages.
Presented by The Substation, Sub 45 – online workshops is series of arts experiences in 45 minutes, suitable for arts enthusiasts, first-timers, and non-arts practitioners. Conducted live by established guest instructors, Sub 45 is an invitation to submerge in the arts from the comfort of home anywhere in Southeast Asia and infuse creative energy into daily life – a real-time virtual workshop in just under one hour!
* Suitable for all ages and abilities. No prior experience required to attend.
* As this is both a voice and movement session, participants are encouraged to turn on their cameras to allow visual interaction with the Instructor and fellow participants.
* Two sessions available (17 Mar & 24 Mar). While both sessions will offer the same content, the experience will vary on each day.
About the Artist
Gimbey dela Cruz is a seasoned professional in music, theater, and education, is thrilled to be able to work with Barefoot Theatre Collaborative for Bar Boys the Musical in Manila, Philippines. With extensive experience and expertise accumulated over many years in the industry, Gimbey brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to her craft.
Her recent accomplishments include a remarkable performance at COP28 Climate Summit in Dubai with Theatre of Others. Gimbey's global reach is further exemplified by her recent contributions through voice workshops for Sight Lines Entertainment in Singapore and for Candon City in Ilocos, Philippines, solidifying her reputation as both a performer and a mentor.
As the founder of the ProD'G Collective and a respected member of the Philippines’ Theater Artists Guild and the National Association for Teachers of Singing, Gimbey's influence and dedication to her craft are deeply ingrained in the industry.
Gimbey's theatrical credits span a diverse range of productions, including notable works such as Shiro and the Cherry Blossom (Singapore), Working (Singapore), Katy: the Musical, Rak of Aegis, and 3 Stars and a Sun. Additionally, her expertise as a voice coach has been instrumental in shaping acclaimed productions such as Rak of Aegis, 3 Stars and a Sun, Care Divas, Walang Aray, and Tabing Ilog.
