Suitable For: Artists, Students and Adults who are seeking a deeper appreciation of art

This 4-week workshop is designed to introduce participants to some key ideas, basic concepts and theories in contemporary visual culture. In the course of examining various concepts in 20th century and postmodern art, the workshop will establish theoretical frameworks that complement studio-based practice for art practitioners and students, as well as for those who want a better understanding of contemporary art. Drawing from a wide range of references derived from visual culture such as paintings, sculptures, architecture, film, design and mass media products, this course provides participants with a fundamental understanding of art within the context of socio-political, economic and cultural developments.

Hazel Lim is currently a full time lecturer teaching Art Theory in the department of Fine Arts at the Lasalle College of the Arts, and had participated in several group exhibitions as well as international art exchange events such as the Creative Camp (Paris) 2003 organised by ASEF and Convergence (2005) which was held at the Fine Arts Museum in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. She has also attended Kassel-Documenta workshop in 2007.
